GACS Gets a New Beginning

This week on Great American Collectibles Show, presented by Sports Collectors Daily and The National Sports Collectors Convention has Tom Zappala and Rico Petrocelli are at our Studio 21 Podcast Cafe. Busy show tonight, John Broggi is on with us, Lee Behrens from Sterling Sports Auction, Jim Spence of James Spence Authentication joins the show for the First time and with us the whole show is Derek Grady from Heritage Auction. We are Jam packed tonight! Leading off is Jim Spence of JSA and authentication company and There first time on GACS.

Jim tells us how and when the company began and gives Us a look into the company. Jim talks about the “Clubhouse signature” and just how Prevalent they were back in the day. The panel talks about the many times they have See autograph’s that are not authentic. Tom then has a very funny or sad story about A signed Babe Ruth ball, that someone had Rico sign it, becoming a one of one item!

Next up is Lee Behrens he has a great auction coming up that closes this week, some Of the great items include, a 1928 Cap Anson, some Jackie Robinsons, Ty Cobbs, complete 1968 Topps Set and so much more! Derek speaks to the size and coverage that JSA has had thru the years, really showing That JSA is continuing to grow in the hobby. Our final guest is John Broggi, of the National And the boys get a bit silly with the Ruth/Rico ball. John gets into the National 2023,Which will sell out of the VIP Package soon, also speaking how this years event will Measure up. This is John’s last National and this one will be big!

 Rich Mueller joins us from The Sports Collectors Daily website, he Is in the know of what is going on in the hobby, he spoke about the Wilt Chamberlain’s Jersey on auction and what the state of the hobby is at this moment.

Brian Dwyer of REA is with us as our main guest, they always have so much going on, their current Auction with a T206 Bill O’Hara being a topic immediately from Tom, the T206 guy.

As usual there is a ’51 Mantle, but also a 1915 Cracker Jack Johnson as well, from eye Appeal to rarity this auction has so much to offer. We even get into Fanatics appearance On the scene and how that affects the others in the hobby.

Brian gets into the process Of how they work with a consigner through the selling process. Brendan Wells from SCP Auction is our final guest, talking about their unique auction that they currently On offer, the Wilt Chamberlain uniform, bring your check book. I studio is Elias Carrigan the card collector on with us, he is just a kid and we will discuss the art of starting as a kid. Mike Russek of Grey Flannel Auctions on with us as our first guest, Mike has a great auction ongoing including a Wayne Gretzky sweater from his last game, and some Pete Maravich items as well, like trophies from college. They have that and so much more, check them out!

Our main guest is Al Crisafulli, Love of the Game Auction, and he is a Rock Star even without the ponytail. The panel does discuss the advantage of the new players and the new collectors and how important that is for the hobby. Elias is able to contribute to show with his collection, Frank Robinson is one of his cards, and Al Crisafulli educates him on how important Robinson was to the game. We also have an On Deck with Rico Petrocelli segment. Our final guest is Leighton Sheldon, Just Collect and more, also has a lot to say. Leighton talks about his new store in New Jersey that he is very proud of. Leighton also gives our young guest some advice on the best way to navigate in the hobby.
